Exercise 4: Question Time!

- Student: What is this?
- Another Student: This is an apple.
- Student: What color is it?
- Another Student: It's red.
Exercise 5: Where Is It?
The teacher will place an object in different locations. Ask "Where is the (object)?" and answer.
- Teacher puts a toy car under a book.
- Student: Where is the car?
- Another Student: It is under the book.
Theme 4: Reproducing Sounds, Rhythms, and Intonations of the English Language
English sounds a little different from our language. Let's practice making those sounds!
Basic Sounds:
- "th" sound: Like in "think" (penser) or "that" (ça). Try saying these words.
- "sh" sound: Like in "ship" (navire) or "shoe" (chaussure). Say these words.
- "ch" sound: Like in "chair" (chaise) or "child" (enfant). Practice these.
Rhythm:
English has a rhythm where some words are said a little louder and longer than others. Listen to me say these sentences and try to clap along with the louder words:
- My name is Lily.
- I like playing football.
Intonation (The way our voice goes up and down):
The way our voice goes up or down can change the meaning of a sentence, especially with questions.
- Statement (voice usually goes down at the end): My name is Tom. (Say it with your voice going slightly down at "Tom").
- Question (voice usually goes up at the end): Are you happy? (Say it with your voice going slightly up at "happy").
Exercise 6: Sound Practice!
The teacher will say some words with the "th," "sh," and "ch" sounds. Listen carefully and repeat after me.
Exercise 7: Rhythm Clap!
Listen to the teacher say short sentences. Clap your hands on the words that sound a little stronger.
Exercise 8: Question Intonation!
The teacher will say some sentences. Decide if it's a statement or a question based on how the voice goes up or down. Then, repeat the sentences with the correct intonation.
Conclusion:
Great job, everyone! You've learned so much about speaking English today. Remember to practice these words and sentences whenever you can. The more you speak, the better you'll become. Don't be afraid to make mistakes – that's how we learn! Keep practicing, and soon you'll be chatting away in English like a pro!
Next Steps:
- Try to use the greetings and introductions you learned today with your friends and family.
- Listen to English songs or watch short English cartoons to hear the sounds and rhythm of the language.
- Don't be shy to ask your teacher if you have any questions!
Keep up the fantastic work! See you next time!
